What is your favorite Gluten Free Recipe?
I would love to know your favorite GF recipe. Please share. I am always looking for new ideas.
Grandma's German Red Cabbage
This is one of my favorite side dishes and it is so easy to make and it freezes well too.
1 Med head red cabbage shredded
1 med apple peeled and chopped
3 strips of bacon
~1/3-1/2 cup white vinegar
1 tsp sugar
salt and pepper to taste
In a pot, cook bacon. Put aside and reserve 1 Tbs bacon fat in the bottom of the pot. Add red cabbage, apple, vinegar, sugar, and crumble in the bacon. Cook covered on low, stirring occasionally. Add salt and pepper to taste. I usually let it cook about 45 min to 1 hour because I like the cabbage really soft.

Eating Clean
One of the nice things I have learned to enjoy eating GF is "eating clean." What I mean by that is just having foods as they naturally come, no processing or packaging involved. It has been a bit easier starting in the summer I think with all the wonderful farmers markets with fresh produce, but I will figure it out as the winter comes. One thing I have found is I really love pink lady apples. I hope to find them in an orchard nearby in the fall. I am trying not to look at this change in my life as a "diet." but a lifestyle change. It will take awhile for those around me to adjust too, but I know it will be great for the kids. The less processed foods they eat will be better for their overall health.
Gluten Free Mom
The reason for starting this blog is I am a busy Mom and professional that has found out I have to live a gluten free lifestyle to obtain better health. I thought it would be nice to share when I have some good finds, recipes, and tips, not to mention keep things organized for myself.
